So, yesterday I told you about the email campaign I put in place that created a few millionaires.

But it’s pretty useless,  right? After all, you don’t already have a million email addresses on file, and you’re not picking up 50k new ones each month either.

I’m guessing, but I’m right aren’t I?

And neither did Gerry when I met him.

Gerry runs a small fashion retailer selling vintage T-shirts to middle-aged guys like me who can actually remember the logos he has on them.

He started the business online in 2015 and has a small ecommerce shop and does a few sales at events and festivals.

He is NOT a techie, at all. He still tries to fax me stuff. Seriously.

So when I met Gerry he was doing what most small retailers do, bashing out sale emails month in month out, giving massive discounts, and generally under-selling himself, and boring his customers to tears.

First off I got him to add some pop-up windows to his shop to gather more email addresses. He was offering free shipping discounts all over the place anyway so it made sense to give them out in return for an email address.

Gerry whinged a bit about this because “everyone hates popups”.

True.

Except for the business owners who use them.

I convinced him to give it a go for 2 weeks and by then end of it we were getting between 5 and 10 percent of his visitors signing up each week.

New, free, qualified leads.

For free.

Got that?

3 weeks later I went back and none of these leads had had an email from him. He was waiting on the date for the next “monthly newsletter”.

After I’d finished beating him over the head with my MacBook Pro, he took my templates and sat down to write 5 emails.

  • Introduced them to the business.
  • Told them what else they could buy.
  • Told them about the social media sites we were on where they could meet other like minded bods and give Gerry product ideas.
  • Offered help
  • Asked for feedback.

And you know what.

Some of them bought stuff!

About a fifth of them actually.

So Gerry’s shop conversion rate goes from 1% to 2%. No big deal.

Except it is. That’s a 100% increase in conversion he’ll have forever.

And the profits are all coming from that second 1%, after the overhead is paid off. He’s now making money. And all he has to do is scale up the traffic.

Wouldn’t you like to do the same?

Get the course on Udemy and you can just copy & paste my own emails, changing the details to suit your own business.

You’ll not only get the text but also the email template I’m using right here for if you’re selling “invisible stuff” like consulting.

If you think this is all way to techie for you, or you’re not confident writing your own emails, I have 2 suggestions:

  1. Buy the course anyway – we’ve agreed a 30 day no quibble guarantee refund on this with Udemy
  2. Get me to do it for you
  3. Keep trying to figure it out for yourself

Just do something dammit!
