Most falls from ladders don’t happen because they tip over at the top. They happen because the base slips out from under you.

The problem is the base. The foundation.

Foundational problems are the worst because you can’t see them from where you are, up high on the ladder.

The problem’s always there, but it’s when you hit the top rung that it shows up.

The temptation is to blame the last step when it was really the first one that was at fault.

This is what happens when someone starts selling their product and meets resistance, or worse, silence.

The temptation is to blame Facebook ads for not working, to blame the sales copy for being wrong, to blame the technology for… actually I don’t know but technology seems to get blamed for everything, probably for being too technical.

The problem is way back when you had the idea for the course.

Sometimes you can get so wrapped up in the excitement of your new idea, that you skip the step of asking the two most critical questions:

  • Who else wants this?
  • Will they pay for it?

The first step after the initial brain-wave shouldn’t be writing the whole course.

First, you should see if it’s worth investing any serious time into.

Thankfully, there’s an easy way.

Set up a product on Gumroad and pick the “Pre-Order” option.

Apart from picking a price, there are only 3 more things to do.

1) Pick a suitable cover image
2) Write the pre-sale sales letter
3) Tell people about it

I’ve covered these in a coaching webinar that I recorded for the team at one of my 1:1 clients.

I gave them a good deal on the training on the basis that I could share it later if needed and, to be honest, I was going to be selling this for at least a couple of hundred dollars once I finished editing out any commercially sensitive bits.

I’ve failed you by missing this step out.

I should really have had this up on sale before Course of Action started teaching you about product creation.
