I just wanted share a quick win I had over the last week – something you might want to try.

I launched a small offer on Twitter last week, a 15 page ebook.

It ticked the boxes of what I look for in a free offer to grow a list:

  • Quick to read
  • Quick to implement
  • Tackles an early problem
  • Tackles a problem people are ALREADY trying to solve

I consider that anything I put out for free should be good enough to charge for, so I decided to try something out.

Rather than give it away for free, I decided to charge just $1.

Now, I’m not usually a fan of giving huge discounts, but $1 isn’t really a discount from the full price.

It’s more likeĀ  a barrier on top of free.

For my prospects, $1 is close to nothing. There’s almost nothing worth having that you can buy for $1.

At $1, the barrier isn’t the money, it’s the annoyance of finding your credit card and filing in a form.

So, I was expecting the conversion rate to be low, but it turns out quite the opposite.

I’m getting around 20% conversions from the Gumroad landing page.

(Not huge numbers I know, but I’ve only written one tweet to promote it so far)

Then I’m making OK sales for a follow-on product that’s mentioned in the guide.

The real difference though is the number of people who have taken me up on the offer of a critique once they’ve done the actions in the guide.

I’ve had almost half of the buyers contact me and say they’ve made their changes already.

The participation is huge as it gives me a bunch of proof – in public – that people are able to consume the contents and act on it.

Now there’s a second part of this which is playing a part and that’s the Tweet that I wrote to promote the guide.

Writing sales tweets is hard because of the limitations of space on Twitter, but this is obviously doing a good job.

So, I decided to break it down on video and add it to the guide, so now you’ve got a complete guide to polishing your Twitter profile from top to bottom.

If you want to see how it’s done, I suggest you start at the sales Tweet, get the guide, then the video will all make sense.

Take a look, I guarantee you it’s worth a dollar!
